The first main target race for 2017 will be the Syracuse Half Marathon in late March. It will be my first half marathon so the main goal is to finish, but it is also a good training run before heading to Indianapolis in May. My goal here will be to figure out a fueling strategy and get my first half under my belt.
To prepare for the Syracuse Half Marathon, I have signed up for the Fleet Feet Half Marathon training class – this will include 12 weeks of speed work on Wednesdays and long runs on Sundays.
The training plan will also require two more base runs during the week along with cross training. I am signing up at the YMCA so I can take advantage of the 1/8 mile indoor track and stationary bikes for cross training.
I will be continuing with Dynamic Health and Fitness and the strength program I have been working on – hip stretches and a Strength Series (squats, lunges and upper body work).
Lastly, I will be adding in some yoga twice a week for flexibility…
